FINISH QUALITY STANDARDS

At Protrades Property Group Limited, all painting, plastering, and finishing work is completed to recognised New Zealand standards. Our workmanship follows the New Zealand Building Code, relevant NZ Standards, manufacturer specifications, and accepted industry tolerances.

We assess all finishes from a normal viewing position (1.5 metres away, at eye level, under non‑critical lighting). Minor variations not visible under these conditions are considered acceptable under NZ guidelines.

Painting Work
All painting is completed in accordance with AS/NZS 2311:2017. A finish is considered defective if it shows visible runs, sags, patchiness, sanding marks, bare areas, contamination, or cracking when viewed under normal conditions. New surfaces typically receive a three‑coat system unless otherwise specified.

Plasterboard Finishing
Plasterboard work follows AS/NZS 2589:2017. Level 4 is the standard residential finish, while Level 5 is required for areas with strong lighting or gloss coatings. Visible joints, fixings, cracking, or inconsistent texture are considered defects.

Substrate Conditions
Finishes rely on the condition of the underlying surface. Issues such as moisture, structural movement, previous coatings, or hidden defects may require additional preparation or remedial work.

Durability
Interior and exterior coatings are applied to meet expected durability periods. Exterior stains require more frequent maintenance, and clear exterior finishes are not recommended due to low durability.
